Smoking: Who’s fault is it? The beginning…

In the 1950s, scientists provided the first evidence that cigarettes caused cancer. This was done in both mouse and human epidemiological studies.

In response to this, the tobacco companies hired a public relations firm called Hill and Knowlton to cast doubt on these findings. Forty-five years later, they admitted the PR campaign was all a fraud.

Now why would tobacco companies do this?
