Five Minutes Could Save Your Life
Lung Cancer Screening finds lung cancer when its curable in those aged of 50 and 80, smoked within the past 15 years and have a 20-pack year history. Click the button to see what a pack year is.
Lung Cancer Screening works. In 2016 the Veterans Administration (VA) got serious about lung cancer screening. The VA is currently screening about 61% of eligible veterans whereas outside the VA, the highest level of screening is stuck at 16%. As the following graph shows, use of lung cancer screening programs finds more lung cancers at stage I. Stage I lung cancer is highly curable!
Lung Cancer Screening uses a Low Dose CT Chest scan. This uses the least amount of radiation possible and sees what’s in the lungs. And it only takes five minutes to do. As my great friend Brian says, “if you have time to smoke a cigarette, you have time to get screened”
